    Slight disappointment

Have had no less than two incidents where the 60A has gone rouge. Had to unplug charger to get it straight.

    Purchased for senior with macular

Posted by Christy on May 25th 2018

We purchased this phone for my Grandma who is 92 and has macular degeneration. We like the talking caller ID but found it only calls out the number on the caller ID, it would not say the name if there was one associated with it. We had a problem setting up the base phone and could not find the answer in the manual that came with the phone, but my cousin finally located the answer online. For someone like my Grandma (whose macular is about as bad as it's going to get) there are a lot of features she can't use. The phone is a bit more for someone with hearing loss rather than her level of vision loss. But the talking caller ID is a plus and she also likes the talking keypad. The phonebook (the numbers we entered into memory) is too hard for her to find on the phone, and she cannot use all the memory buttons (there are 3), but she does know to hit the red memory button on the bottom left and it will call me. She does wish the base was a little bigger so she can see the buttons on the answering machine a little better. Her main request was big white buttons on a black cordless phone and that goal was accomplished. We also purchased an extra handset to keep by her bedside. Overall we are happy with the purchase at this time, and she's been using it for a week now with no complaints. It remains to be seen how often we will be buying new batteries or how long this phone will last, but it currently meets her needs.
